Winter is going the Cardigan Way

Mr. Rogers' didn't only have his perfect neighbourhood, he also had an impressive collection of chunky knit cardigans - a collection that now has the ability to make this season's fashionistas green with envy.


This cosy garment, first named after James Thomas Brodwell, a British military commander during the Crimean War, and the 7th Earl of Cardigan, is officially this season's simplest yet most reliable staple. We all have some sort of cardigan in our closet, but this winter has welcomed the bulky grandpa style back into our lives. From cotton knits to double-breasted styles to hugely oversized - it seems geek chic has taken a new turn and found inspiration in the most surprising of people: old men.

Matched with leggings, high-waisted jeans or even lace tights- the cardigan allows for huge layering potential - and this can often obliterate the need for a huge heavy winter coat. Strive to channel Keira Knightley or Sienna Miller in The Edge of Love- for a truly wintry, wholesome look. Or let yourself reminisce over your schooldays, by pairing knee socks with a more oversized style. Check out the piles of sweaters in thrift shops and flea markets for an authentic “senior citizen-style” cardigan.

It may be that no one will ever succeed in wearing the cardigan as well as the man who welcomed you to the neighbourhood, but winter is beckoning for us all to try this trend out. So, go for the old, or the oversized or both- just be sure to always do it old man style. Make Mr. Rogers proud.

They make the best cars (Toyota), the best video games (Nintendo) and the best plasma screes (Panasonic). Now they've starting making some of the coolest clothing as well. Just check out Bedwin, a spectacular fashion label from Japan. These picks are parts of their 2008 Fall/Winter collection. 

Real men wear real hats.

We couldn't quite figure out this thing, but we kind of liked it.

- I was 12 and no longer had to wear uniform at school. I went to Zara and my eyes were opened to a whole new world of creativity, I've been obsessed since!

- Fashion is self-expression, and expression is imperative to life.

- Karl Lagerfeld and Sienna Miller

 ... and worst dressed?
- Paris Hilton.

What do you think of Barak Obama's style?
- I don't know much about suits, but I'd say he pulls them off well.

What's the worst rumour you've heard about yourself or your blog?
- Rumours are nasty, and I've been subject to some pretty hostile ones: but this isnt the place to divulge them! 

Why should people read your blog posts?
- I am hugely passionate about the sartorial sphere and I think this is conveyed in my writing. Besides, my style is fresh and so are my blog posts (chuckles) so just read!

- Because Fashhh is about fashion, and fashion is fun.

- Alexander Wang: he has such huge potential and is going to be big.

There are som many brands that just have to love. Like Ksubi, for instance. Ksubi makes the coolest jeans you'll ever find. And they've got the coolest website around too (at least if you have a sort of geeky google humour).

How To Get Skinny Jeans Like Kings Of Leon

Kings of Leon's new album is on top of the UK chart, and as we have mentioned before in our Top 10: Best Dressed Rockers of Today-list, these guys really know how to wear a pair of skinny jeans.

If you're reading this and thinking "What the f***? Isn't this suppose to be a fashion blog?", we won't be surprised. Writing about one of the new big indie rock bands doesn't seem to be typically for a fashion blog like this (unless it's The Strokes). Oh well. We have our reasons. Just look at the skinny jeans the Kings of Leon-gang are wearing. Are there possible to get skinnier jeans? We doubt it. And the secret? Caleb Followill, the lead singer, recently revealed that all the guys in the band send their jeans to their mom so that she do her magic and make them even skinner than any jeans brand ever imagined. So, there you've got it. You're mom made you. Why can't she make your jeans?
