The Buzz about the Colors

Okay. So, I’m no big fan of the new rave trend that is still somewhat grasping the scene, nor am I a color aficionado, but since the craziness has hit the stage, a certain interest for fluo tones aroused in me and I started using one of my old mottos : “What the hell, why not?”
It’s been a long time since I posted and as far as I remember, last time it had something to do with the theory of colors. This time, it’s all about the brands. And not the haute-couture, common-ELLE-magazine-brands, but fairly independent and urban labels that have had a striking effect on recent fashion culture.

First up is Pa: nuu. I came across a dealer shop while strolling around in Treviso, Italy and since then I had this inkling that more people should find out about them.Seeing the clothes on hangers I thought ‘mad stuff’.Seeing the Amsterdam Clubkids wearing them the only words swirling in my head were ‘color pornography”.

Based in Denmark,the designs of Jacob Hoilund and Cathrine Nielsen are usually classified as “streetwear”. I’d rather call what they do “street clothing for the brave and über-crazy” although “new rave zealousness” would be a much better, if not shorter, depiction.

The brand is only two years old and it has already spread across the globe, available now in more than 15 countries. Many could be said about their market research and analysis techniques (‘none’ being the word to describe both) or about the way they mix and match the colors and patterns (or more like un-mix and non-match), but since the result is so visually striking it even impressed me, otherwise so blasé about neon, why don’t I just let you judge for yourselves.

Burberry Thinks You're Pants Are Too Short

Well, we don't know if they think that YOUR pants are too short, but by judging on their autumn-winter collection, one could easily think so.

Just check out the pants. It looks pretty weird now. But in some months, you'll probably buy it and think it's cool. Just you wait and see.

It's amazing how much money companies like Apple or Blackberry use to make their products look as stylish as possible. So, when you're buying an iPod or a Blackberry, you should put some money into style and design yourself. This purse? A very good start.

Hi Sara! Tell us something about yourself!
- I'm a 21 year old Fashion Arts student at Seneca College in Toronto
Canada. Currently I am getting ready to make my first collection for
my graduation in April. I live downtown with my boyfriend and my job
is making bridal veils.

Describe your style
- I love asymmetry and contrast. High heels and big hearings.

What do you think of Fashhh?
- I think this website is fantastic! It's great to be able to see
original outfits from all over the world.

What is fashion for you?
- Fashion is a way to express myself. I am a fashion designer and I love
creating new and unique clothes so I can wear something that no one
else has.

What is the worst thing some one can wear?
- Something that doesn't fit.

What do you think of Crocs?
- Crocs are only appropriate if you are 5 years old or younger, other
wise its time to get some real shoes.

One fashion advice for the world?
- Never be afraid to flaunt your originality threw your clothing. If
you are confident with how you look, everyone else will think you look
great too.

Since Sara makes her own dresses, we thought it would be cool to see what they looked like. Here are 3 of her dresses (from left):

Sundress
- This was the first garments that I designed, drafted the pattern for
and stitched all together. The criteria called for a woven dress with
sleeves, a collar and a closure. I wanted to make something night and
light for spring.

Suit
- I'm proud of this tailored suit and I love its bold statement. It's
meant to garter attention and help the wearer exude confidence. Circus
ringmaster comes to mind, which only helps the powerful, in control
image.

Cupcake Dress
- This dress was a design project for my second year knit wear class. I
worked with a partner to illustrate a knit collection of 6 garments
and then we each sewed up our favorite one. I designed the cupcake
print on the dress which we silk screened onto the Jersey.

Hey! Did We Delete Your Picture?

We hate to delete your pictures, but sometimes we have to remove the pics that just aren't good enough for us. And now we're raising the bar - we only want good pictures. So, we've decided to look at all our pictures and delete the ones that don't quite cut it.
To be precise, this is what we're want in your pics:
1. Show your entire body
2. Be alone
3. Strike a pose! (don't be boring)
4. Let the be in the centre
5. Don't cut off your head

If you're picture remains here after we've looked through all our pics, that mean that we think you have a supercool outfit and a supercool picture. So, be proud of it! We're aiming to show off the best fashion possible, and to do that, we need some quality.

And if we do delete your picture, don't be sad. It's not personal. Just take a new one, and everyone will be happy.

In our interview series Meet the blogger we talk to exciting fashion bloggers from around the world, just like we did last time with Andy Knight and his Denimology. This time we've met up with Renate Karlsen from Harstad, Norway, to talk about her blog, Renate Fashion.

Hi Renate! Tell us about your blog
- Well, it's a fashion blog. I post pictures of what I'm wearing and what I buy.

How did it get started?
- I saw a lot of girls who had a blog like mine and it looked fun!

What's the best thing about your blog?
- Hmm, good question. It has a lot of pictures and is easy to read. Check it out!

Do you make any money of it?
- Not yet. I have a lot of plans when I turn 18, but until then I at least get discount on the clothes I'm buying.

What's your best fashion advice?
- Be yourself. Don't care about what anyone say. Wear a lot of high heels and show off your body. You don't wanna be slutty, but making heads turn is a good thing ;)

What is the worlds best fashion city?
- God, all my life I've been so afraid of flying that I have'nt been travelling that much. But I am planning a trip to London, New York and Paris. After what I've heard, those are great fashion cities.

What does it take for you to stop blogging?
- When people stop responding and reading my blog, I'll stop. But until then I'll continue. I love to blog!

Why do you love fashion?
- I don't know really. I've always loved pretty things, and I love to look good and make people stare. It's sooo fun!

Because, that's me. And my name is not Kaja Tavara Nyborg, my name is Charlotte Thiesen, I'm 18 years old and I live in Moss, not in Sandefjord. I actually remember when I was standing in the line waiting to get in to the food-store at Hove, when you asked me for a picture.

But it was cool with this "How to look cool on a festival" - gallery, though!

Julian V. Mathiassen's outfit= Gross. I hate this Ho Topic core crap. Those pants are so uncomfortable, illogical and hideous. I also don't get where people get those gas masks. It seems like everyone and their mother's own one. I think they should stay in those teeny-bopper profile pictures though... not in public.

Everything else I pretty much agree.
