A BLOG ABOUT FASHION

Think One Color. Think Nike.

Author: The Fashhh Taem

Nike has just released a brand new seasonal collection that uses premium materials like suede and tumbled leather. But, that's not what strikes you when looking at shoes for the first time. No, what strikes you is the lack of colors, considering most of todays sneakers are really colorful. But who ever needed a rainbow to look good?

Spotted In The Streets of Bergen

Author: The Fashhh Team
Date: 2008-09-26 01:10
Now and again we bring our camera and head out in the streets to hunt stylish people. This time we tried to find some awesome outfits in Bergen, Norway.

It would definitely be wrong to call Bergen (population of 250.000) a fashion city. But there certainly are some fashionminded people walking in the streets. We found a bunch of people that sticked out from the crowd.

Henriette Størsnes (14)
Our verdict: We love the freshness that Henriette displays. The hair, the long necklace, the lime-green color and her attitude ... We love it.

Linn Kristiansen (17)
Our verdict: Linn makes it look like she doesn't care how she is dressed - in a good way. The head band, the baggy vs. skinny clothing and the Converse sneakers lets the world know that she is a cool and relaxed person to be with. We think the outfit is kind of cool.

Tommy Olsen (16)
Our verdict:
This outfit really works. The colors, the baggy cardigan and the scarf - Tommy knows what he's doing.

Kristoffer Joner (36) - famous actor in Norway
Our verdict:
We think Kristoffer needs to work on his fashion sense, but we suspect that he cares far more about acting than dressing up anyway.

Meet One Of Our Great Contributors: Dennise Pineda

Author: The Fashhh Team
Date: 2008-09-24 23:16

Lots of great people are contributing to this blog. The upcoming weeks, we'll present them all for you, starting with Dennise Pineda.

Dennise is 24 years old and from Chicago, Illinois. And we love her.

What's your fashion experience?
- My fashion experience or rather inspiration stems from my sister who is an aspiring fashion designer. I've never met a person who can put together an outfit quite like she can.

When did you first become interested in fashion?
- I've been interested in fashion since high school. My family didn't have much money growing up so I had to be creative when it came to outfits, thus came my love for thrift stores and consignment shops.

Why is fashion important?
- Fashion is important because it is an expression of our creativity. Just like fingerprints, no two people have the exact same style or taste in fashion.

Today's best dressed male and female?
- Zooey Deschanel (actress) and Marc Jacobs (designer).

... and worst dressed?
- Honestly, I'd like to think that I'm open minded and if I don't like someone's fashion sense it is because it is not my taste not because it is bad.

What do you think of Barak Obama's style?
- Forgive me for being biased, but Barack Obama does currently reside and has roots in Chicago so I think he is an exremely sharp dresser.

What's the worst rumour you've heard about yourself or your blog?
- I've never heard a rumor about my blog but I remember in high school people saying that I was a teacher's pet behind my back.

Why should people read your blog posts?
- People should read my blog posts because I write for others. Don't get me wrong, I put my style and opinion in my posts but at the end of the day, I want at least one person to say, hey, I learned something from that post.

Why should people join Fashhh?
- People should join Fashhh because it is a great way to be in touch with fashion all over the world. Everything right now is about being global from marketing to journalism to photography, etc. The fashion world has to keep up.

The most exciting brand and designer at the moment?
- This was a tough choice but the brand and designer that has been exciting me as of late is MINE by Katherine Pont.

Read more from Dennise on her blog Tenacious Dee, or here at Fashhh. Check out this great piece she wrote about Gossip Girl and fashion in tv-series.

Google ... For T-shirt fanatics

Author: The Fashhh Team

Every now and again, you might find yourself looking for a t-shirt with a spesific saying on it. Like a t-shirt that says something about your boring/fantastic sex life (that's pretty dumb tho). Well, finding the t-shirts you're looking for isn't as hard as you think.
What makes spesific t-shirts easy to find? Shirtseek.com, a fun search engine dedicated to find that particular t-shirt you're looking for.

What we think? It's a cool service. Just remember to stay away from the most tacky search results. You have to be pretty picky. Just like when you're buying clothes the ordinary way.

So Fresh And So Clean (Still)

Author: The Fashhh Team

Accessories and bags are one of the most important thing to worry about when putting together a new outfit. Sometimes the best solution is to keep it simple and clean. In that case, white might be the perfect solution for you.

These bags and accessories may look familiar to you, because they were actually unveiled several months ago. But hey, they look just as good now. Made by Head Porter, the collaboration of Hiroshi Fujiwara and Porter, this Snow White collection, is the perfect touch to your wardrobe. You could buy this stuff from Head Porter's web site, but they're sold out. Perhaps you'll find one on eBay?

Okay Converse, This Time You've Gone To Far

Author: The Fashhh Team
Date: 2008-09-16 00:24

Converse is like Marlboro, Coca-Cola or Corvette. You don't mess with the real deal. So when Converse are releasing these teddy bear shoes, it kind of reminds of when Coca-Cola launched Coke with vanilla flavor. It just tasted awful.

It's not that this shoe looks awful. We actually think it looks quite cool. It's just that it's a GOD DAMN Converse shoe that looks like a teddy bear (sorry for our choice of words, we just lost our temper). A brand built by the likes of Joey Ramone, Kurt Cobain and Julian Casablancas can't just start making comfy fall/winter shoes like this. It hurts. It's like when R.E.M. stopped being cool and fresh and started becoming a giant sell-out.

So, dear Converse executives, please think twice before releasing this shoe. And if you need a reminder of all the talented people that love you and would probably agree with us, just take look at these folks:

The Strokes love their Converse.
Kurt loved Converse.

Even Avril loves her Converse.

Do It Like Dunst

Author: Audrey Rogers
Date: 2008-09-09 23:22
This is the casual look at its very best. With three simple components, this outfit is as easy as 1-2-3.  Perfect for the early warm days of school or for hanging out on Sunday: read the following points to call this look your own.

1. Grab a t-shirt. An oversized baggy style or even a t-shirt dress. H&M have a great selection of simple, cotton tees.  Just be sure the shirt covers most of your upper thighs (we don’t want anything trashy).

2. Belt-age: The Belt is the key part of this look. Make sure it is not excessively elaborate, but also be sure to avoid something too basic. It’s the focal area of the ensemble, so choose something that will subtly catch the eye.

3. Sunglasses: Ray-ban Wayfarers are probably the best option. Aviators are also appropriate. I recommend checking out monikapolitan.com, for stylish sunglasses that won’t break the bank.  Finally, tie your hair up in a messy bun or casual ponytail.

Our 5 Favourite Fall Collections ... This far

Author: Dennise Pineda
Date: 2008-09-07 20:38
My e-mail inbox is chock full of alerts about so many anticipated fall collections. I’d like to obtain every piece I’ve seen but my closet and my wallet are warning me they’ll go on strike if I do. Therefore, after much deliberating (with myself, of course), I’ve come up with the top 5 collections I can’t wait to get my hands on:
Nr. 1: Built by Wendy

Wendy Mullin’s fall collections are always flawless. Full of suede, corduroy, tartan prints-I’m giggling like a schoolgirl just thinking about it. Her pieces are girly but very practical; most can go from work to school to a night out with ease.

Nr. 2: Lyell

- I cannot say enough good things about this collection. From the photography to the models to of course, the clothing, Lyell makes me want to burst out in song ala The Sound of Music. I’m not much of a sweater gal but these are just so feminine and dreamy and seemingly flattering to any shape.

Nr. 3: Topshop

I know this seems kind of broad, seeing as Topshop is a store and not an exclusive line per se, but, just take a look at some of these pieces and tell me you can survive this wonderful season without them.

Nr. 4: Samantha Pleet (Rapscallion) for Urban Outfitters

You know all those rompers and peter pan collars you’ve been coveting but couldn’t quite afford? Well, now you can! This is probably my favorite “guest designer for a chain store” collection to date. If you’re looking for whimsical, girly and fun styles, look no further than Samantha Pleet.

Nr. 5:  A.P.C.

If Samantha Pleet’s collection is not to your liking and you’re looking for some basic- but not ordinary pieces then A.P.C. is worth checking out. The best thing about A.P.C.’s collection is that the pieces don’t look like much but when you tally up the pieces that you “need” to purchase and will probably do so from all different places, well, they’re all at A.P.C., ready and patiently waiting for you.

The Real Reason Why We Love Gossip Girl

Author: Dennise Pineda
Date: 2008-09-05 19:20
Hello. My name is Dennise and I’m addicted to Gossip Girl (everyone echoes, “Hi Dennise”). What constitutes this obsession, you ask? Is it the brilliant writing and complicated plots? Eh, no. Is it the Emmy-worthy and revolutionary acting? Not even close. It is simply one thing: the fashion.

TV and fashion have and always will work hand and hand and so I’ve been led to write a TV themed post:

I’ve been inspired by Bust magazine’s latest issue and its Twin Peaks centered photo shoot. Much to my delight, I just picked up the current issue of Nylon and they likewise dedicated much of their pages to dressing like your favorite nineties TV show. The nineties may not scream “fashion revolution”, but luckily we have popular culture figures to remind us of the fun styles that were sported to inspire us today. So I’ve decided to take two of my favorite nineties TV characters and put together a shopping list of the items I’d imagine they would purchase if they were around today.

Janine Turner plays Maggie O'Connell in Northern Exposure.

Two of my favorite TV heroines belong to that quirky and wonderful show about a doctor placed in Alaska, that’s right, the one with John Corbett before he was our beloved Aidan Shaw, the former beau of one Carrie Bradshaw. If you haven’t guessed by now, the show I’m referring to is Northern Exposure.

Janine Turner played Maggie O’Connell, a stubborn, independent and spunky pilot who drove Dr. Fleischman crazy with her witty feminist banter and beautiful full lips. I remember watching her every week and pledging to give up all worldly possessions if I could look exactly as she did. She wasn’t very fashion forward; she was a comfort over style type gal but on those rare occasions when she chose to “dress up”, she was such a stunner, it was no shock she was regularly able to pull off the baggy clothes and big boots.

Were Maggie around today, I believe she’d be a regular at stores like J. Crew, Gap, Eddie Bauer and Lands End. She’d opt for classic shapes and basic styles and colors; someone as beautiful as she could get away with few accessories and plain looking clothing.

My next heroine is the polar opposite of Maggie, Shelly Tambo, played to perfection by Cynthia Geary; Shelly caught the eyes of all the men around her, young and old, with her beauty pageant good looks and her naïve optimism. Despite being a beauty queen, head cheerleader and girlfriend to the most popular young man in her hometown, she opted to run away with the Cicely self-appointed mayor only to end up in the arms of his best friend, the much, much older owner of the only bar in town.

Cynthia Geary plays Shelly Tambo.

Shelly was a much trendier dresser, she loved utilizing colors and sporting the styles of the late eighties with large earrings and teased bangs. Were Shelly around today, she’d definitely frequent Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and Topshop. Her style was fun and flirty and of course influenced by music as she always happened to mention listening to the latest Aerosmith or Guns ‘N’ Roses tape.

It’s your turn to give it a go, choose your favorite TV show, new or old, pick a character and try to build his or her wardrobe based on where you normally shop. It’s a fun way to see what influences your style.

Was the character Maggie in Northern Exposure portrayed as feminist on the show, I read somewhere that she was someone who always blamed all the problems in her life on the man in her life.

Look - Space Themes Are Awesome!

Author: The Fashhh Team
Date: 2008-09-04 00:22

Since Fashhh is created in Norway, a part of Scandinavia, we have a close relationship with scandiavian design. Brands like Moods of Norway, J. Lindeberg, Tiger of Sweden are all really cool, but the true jewels are brands like this one - brands like Wood Wood (it's actually a store and brand).

Just look at these cool t-shirts. Who ever said that space isn't cool?

If you really, really them, we advice you to buy them at hanon. And the price? $39.95 for each t-shirt.

Ida Lórien (20) has impressed people at Fashhh with her colorful outfits. Now she wants Fashhh to arrange a contest!

Hi! Tell us something about yourself!
- I'm 20 years old and a dreamer. Fashion is just one of my many passions! I would die without music, I play piano and I love to sing.
I also make drawings and paint a lot. I wanna do something creative for a living.

Describe your style.
- My style changes all the time. There are too many clothes out there to just pick one style. By I can point out one thing, and that's the fact that I love to wear color, especially yellow. It's such a happy color.

What do you think of Fashhh?
- Fashhh is a funky, fresh site. Seeing all the different outfits here really inspires me.

What is fashion for you?
- Fashion is like art for me. A outfit is like a painting.

What is the worst thing someone can wear?
- I really hate snakepatterns! And tops that shows off your tummy. Ugh!

- What do you think of Crocs?
- They're ugly. It's not fashion. But hey - they're made for people that need comfortable shoes, they're not made for the runway.

One fashion advice for the world?
- Wear clothes that make you happy ... wait, I have one more think I'd like to add. I think Fashhh should arrange some a contest!
